HYDRO VORTEX BIOLOGICAL FILTERS
Water Works Ponds is pleased to add the premium Hydro Vortex biological filters to our line of quality pond products. The process has a number of design strengths, such as consistent wall thickness and strong outside corners that are virtually stress free. The rotomold manufacturing process results in a much stronger product than their injection molded counterparts. This is an invaluable feature to stand up to the harsh frost and temperature conditions during an Alberta winter.
The Hydro Vortex biological filters have the highest filtration system of any biological waterfall filter that we found on the marketplace – anywhere!
The filter silk is cleaner compared to other bio media when it comes time to shut down your pond for the winter. The vortex motion of the water inside the filter spins particulates out of the water into a bottom-settling cone for clearer water. The drain at the base of the settling cone allows for simple, easy, quick, and complete back flushing of sediment and detritus from the filter. The Hydro Vortex filter completely hides the bio-media from view and allows for rocks, gravel, and aquatic plants to be placed on the top for a more natural look than other brands. A Hydro Vortex filter does away with heavy, messy, difficult to clean filter pads and unproductive out-of-date lava rock. The entire vortex chamber is stuffed full of Filter Silk which produces the colonization of billions more aerobic bacteria working away hard at eating up all those algae promoting nutrients. Low nutrient levels results in clean, clear, healthy water that green algae just simply have a very difficult time surviving in. So we are not killing algae, we are starving it - naturally.
This in turn means cleaner ponds and healthier fish. The Hydro Filter Silk never has to be replaced and can be periodically cleaned by simply pouring pond water when back flushing your biological filter. (download the PDF for more information)
AQUA FALLS
AquaFalls Biological Waterfall Filters are manufactured under rotational molding process. This method of manufacture offers superior design advantages over other molding processes, such as injection molding. The process has a number of design strengths, such as consistent wall thickness and strong outside corners that are virtually stress free. These attributes are particularly vital for the harsh frost conditions an Alberta winter can through at us.
AquaFalls Biological Waterfall Filters and not only help keep your pond clean and healthy, it is also the ideal start to your stream or waterfall. An inlet hole is located at on either side of the AquaFalls, for convenient PVC pipe connection from the skimmer.
AquaFalls Biological Waterfall Filters are buried into the ground so that they are hidden from view with earth excavated for the pond. A series of dense filter mats ensures clean water flows through the bio media located on top for beneficial bacteria germination and growth. The cheapest and least productive form of bio media widely available are lava rocks. We recommend installing the most productive for of bio media widely available; Ultra Bio Media or Filter Silk. To the best of our knowledge Ultra Bio Media and Filter Silk will cost more than any other form of bio media available. You get what you pay for! And what you are paying for is the colonization of billions of more aerobic bacteria in your up-to-date bio media working away hard at eating up all those algae promoting nutrients. Low nutrient levels results in clean, clear, healthy water that green algae just simply have a very difficult time surviving in. So we are not killing algae, we are just starving – naturally. BIOLOGICAL MEDIA
All bio filters of any type can be classified according to its specific surface area (SSA). The higher the SSA the likely is it that the biomedia will be more effective in a fishpond filter. (download the PDF for more information and comparison charts)
